| Cute, happy DVD film Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day with heart and a lesson for our times! The scene where Amy Adams sings a number had me in tears! I pulled out the Kleenex. The music is the star. It lifted the mood in the Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day Romance movie could have become bleak. Nice sound quality in the theater - that could almost make the dialog box, if not for British accents. The dialogue was 2nd place anyway games, costumes, production, rhythm and dazzled, and moved the story in a nice clip, very nice to get bored. My friend could not make the dialog, but nevertheless enjoyed! If you want a happy afternoon or evening of entertainment, do not miss this one! |
| This reminded me of something that Irene Dunne and Norma Shearer would protagonist Delysia, with Cary Grant playing the love interest, Michael. The cast was excellent. Frances McDormand in the title role was excellent. Ciaran Hinds (Julius Ceaser HBO "Rome") was great. The screenplay is top quality. The picture is perfect, before the capture of the Second World War London without any problems. What really made the Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day Romance movie standout was Amy Adams as Delysia. She really shined in his role. She has quickly become one of the main level of female actors in Hollywood. She has a great range of acting roles in both comedy and drama, and she can sing. She has it all. Her love interest in the film, Lee Pace, was also very good. They had the kind of chemistry that worked so well in the 1930s Screwball comedies best Cary Grant and Irene Dunne, among others. This is a very good film, well directed, written and acted. I would recommend this DVD movie Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day to anyone in the mood for a good romantic comedy. |

However, if you're interested in seeing a good performance, excellent art and fun, whimsical characters then you will not be disappointed. Francis McDormand gives an excellent performance as the main character. It plays this role to his strengths - his presence, facial expressions and perfect timing. Amy Adams extends a bit to deliver a good performance. She managed to make his portrait of the character credible, despite the limitations of his act. By far the best performance was that of Shirley Henderson as Edythe. Henderson has the character and fully understands that, without taking the opportunity to go over the top.
